Weekend Beach Reprieve from the Madness

Ok, maybe the title is a little melodramatic. However, it’s April 2021 and madness is still prevalent no matter what spectrum you view the world from. So, if you think the whole world has gone crazy, you’re not alone.

San Diego Retreat

Technically, we only spent half a day in San Diego of the four day extended weekend trip. San Diego was the highlight and we want to go back. It was a nice break as we hadn’t been out of Las Vegas since September 2020 when we went to Bryce Canyon National Park.

Feiya’s Drawings

What a proud dad I am! Feiya is really blossoming in her drawings. She’s had a new iPad since Christmas and it’s really helping her excel with her renderings. She has a dream of designing video games. I say she could do anything she wants. She’s that good in everything she does. I’m very fortunate.

February 2021 Update

Wow! What a year! Think back to February 2020. If we only knew then what we know now! What would we do different? It probably wouldn’t be much. If the world is going to burn, it’s going to burn. I’ve tried to stay pretty optimistic through the year. It’d be a lie if I told you that I wasn’t a little nervous from time to time. Well, maybe a little more than a little nervous. 😐
I can honestly say it wasn’t a too bad of year for myself or Dana. It was Feiya that had to make the biggest adjustment. She’s been literally stuck in this house for almost a year. The thing that worries me most is that she likes it. It doesn’t look like she’s going back to school this year.

More Summerlin Sunsets…

Feiya turned 13 years old this past week. We celebrated by letting her open some presents the morning of her b-day. That afternoon I took her to the optometrist and we paired her up to her first pair of glasses. I think every kid wears glasses these days. On the way home I bought her dinner at one her favorite restaurants, Cafe Zupas. They serve some damn good soup!

On Sunday we ordered out from one of our favorite sushi restaurants, Sushi Mon. I was skeptical, but the food was phenomenal. All they’re rolls are half off right now as well. It was a good few days.

New Year New World

Well, maybe not an entirely new world, but it just seams this pandemic won’t loosen it’s grip. About four weeks ago Dana tested positive after being exposed at work. We had to go into lockdown mode. Dana had a cold for a few days and that was about it. Feiya and myself didn’t show symptoms. I was able to continue to work. I only did unoccupied houses during that time. Fortunately, it was the slowest time of the year.

This virus is no joke. Dana’s small office consists of herself and 4 other co-workers working in close quarters. Dana started showing symptoms a day after her coworker announced he had tested positive. We tested negative 10 days later after showing no symptoms for 3 or so consecutive days. Dana was one of the first of her coworkers back to work and one week later she had found out the mother of one of her coworkers had died from the virus. Her mother was retired and lived her. It came from the same outbreak Dana and the rest of us were exposed to. This is why we have to be very respectful of this virus.
