Seattle Vacation 2021

We rolled the dice a few months ago and booked a flight and hotel in Seattle for June. I was just playing around with flight prices and saw some great deals. Not knowing if things were going to be open or not we booked the flight anyway. It paid off.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriot Seattle Downtown. It was nice. I asked for a view when we checked in and the front desk clerk said she couldn’t change our room because we booked the room with Expedia. I do recommend booking hotel rooms directly through the hotel itself. Best way is to pick up the phone and call them. I should have done that.

Oh well, our room was on the 12th floor and we did have a nice view of the Columbia Center building. There was a building that provided services for the homeless next to our building and I saw some interesting things in the alley below. Interesting things!

Weekend Beach Reprieve from the Madness

Ok, maybe the title is a little melodramatic. However, it’s April 2021 and madness is still prevalent no matter what spectrum you view the world from. So, if you think the whole world has gone crazy, you’re not alone.

San Diego Retreat

Technically, we only spent half a day in San Diego of the four day extended weekend trip. San Diego was the highlight and we want to go back. It was a nice break as we hadn’t been out of Las Vegas since September 2020 when we went to Bryce Canyon National Park.

Bryce Canyon National Park | Camping Trip 2020

Camping is one of my favorite pastimes. Since leaving Colorado over 12 years ago I haven’t been camping once. Come to think about it, I bet it’s been almost 14 years since the last time I went camping. It’s not that I lost interest, it’s just that it was an activity that just didn’t fit into my life for the past decade or so. I’m so glad to have rediscovered it and am able to share the experience with Feiya and Dana. The seeds for this trip were planted one year ago when we visited Cedar Breaks National Monument just outside of Cedar City, Utah. While exploring this beautiful area we stumbled upon a campground located in a high meadow full of wildflowers. We walked the campsite loop and saw several empty sites that had spectacular views. We were excited thinking we could be sleeping under the stars in anyone of these sites. And it was a busy holiday weekend to boot! I camped regularly in the Mountains of Colorado in the 12 years I lived there. In my early 20’s camping was more or less finding a secluded spot on a backcountry access road and set up a tent, …

August Update

Made it through August! Even though it was hot as hell here in Vegas, it wasn’t a bad month. I was steady at work for most of the month. Which is good, I like it when I’m not thinking about anything other than work. I like the focus. Home life is pretty well on auto-pilot during the week. We don’t go out much on the weekends, so we cook all weekend long. We fill up the fridge for the week!

It works out pretty well. Feiya started school last week. She hit a couple bumps during the first week. The 2nd day she fell asleep and missed 3 classes. She’s had perfect attendance since. Her workload isn’t too bad yet. It’s nice to see her have some structure. The first few days she complained a lot. Today and yesterday I haven’t heard any complaining or moaning.

End of July Update

Damn! We made it through July! I was crushed at work. I think I shot 45 houses in July. For 5 days straight I shot 4 houses everyday. That’s almost half for the month in one week. My back was killing me! It was fun and I worked some much needed overtime. Not much new on the COVID front. Still strange times. We really haven’t gone out since we returned from Utah. I’m getting a little concerned about how inactive Feiya is. She’s in good spirits. She get’s a way with things a little more. I don’t think this is a good time to push her. School is starting in 3 weeks. It’s online only, but I think that will be a good start. Maybe throwing them back into a herd all at once isn’t such a good idea. Other than staying safe from the virus, psychologically it could be like throwing a bunch of fish back into the ocean. Might be a little too much all at once. Maybe? Maybe not? It was good to busy at work this month. I think I’m hitting my stride and feeling pretty good about my work. Highs and lows. I just keep …
