End of July Update

Damn! We made it through July! I was crushed at work. I think I shot 45 houses in July. For 5 days straight I shot 4 houses everyday. That’s almost half for the month in one week. My back was killing me! It was fun and I worked some much needed overtime.

Not much new on the COVID front. Still strange times. We really haven’t gone out since we returned from Utah. I’m getting a little concerned about how inactive Feiya is. She’s in good spirits. She get’s a way with things a little more. I don’t think this is a good time to push her. School is starting in 3 weeks. It’s online only, but I think that will be a good start. Maybe throwing them back into a herd all at once isn’t such a good idea. Other than staying safe from the virus, psychologically it could be like throwing a bunch of fish back into the ocean. Might be a little too much all at once. Maybe? Maybe not?

It was good to busy at work this month. I think I’m hitting my stride and feeling pretty good about my work. Highs and lows. I just keep telling myself to keep doing what I’m doing. No one has yelled at me in quite some time! 🙂 I must be doing something right.

Dana is doing quite well. She’s doing a lot of online conferences and workshops for her ministry education. She’s really become very spiritual. It’s a joy to see her awakening. She’s really happy and is a joy to be around. I know California was hard on her. She had some awful jobs, her and I didn’t see eye to eye on things, and she had to learn how to drive, speak English, and navigate the US. I look back and it’s only now I see how strong she is. I’m very proud of her. Not only has she persevered she’s given all of us a hand up.

W e’re planning another Utah excursion over Labor Day weekend. We’re going full tilt camping this time. We’re going to try to make a dry run next weekend. We have all the equipment now, we just need to make sure we know what we’re doing. It’s been at least 15 years since I’ve been tent camping. I used to do it all the time in Colorado. Dana is excited and so is Feiya. I’m hoping for no moon and no wifi. Just the starry skies at night!

If you ever plan a trip to Utah, check out these guys at Visit Utah. I get nothing for mentioning or linking to them, but I did contact them before my last trip. They were extremely helpful and gave me some great recommendations.

Our next trip is going to be to Cedar Breaks National Monument. We’re also going to visit Bryce Canyon National Park. We may camp near Bryce for a night or two as well. We haven’t decided yet. Should be a lot of fun. We’re going to rent a nice SUV again. Why not? They’re dirt cheap right now.

That’s about all I have for now. These pictures are from a house I shot last week. That bar was awesome. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out where the light was coming from. The light was very bright. Much brighter than in my pictures. I thought it was reflecting from a skylight or a window transom. I looked all over the ceiling. Then I figured out the bar was the light! Truly amazing!

Hope you are staying safe and healthy out there. Doesn’t matter how you do it, just be and this will pass before we know it.
